The Curriculum

The academic year is divided into two semesters of 16 weeks each, starting June and ending middle March. The curriculum is planned to meet the situation and need of the church and society in Myanmar.

Our curriculum is constructed around three principles:

  1. Courses on History of Asian Churches and Theology are given to acquaint the student not only with the local scene but also with his heighboring countries in Asia.
  2. Practical courses are given to equip the student with the ability to apply himself/herself to concrete situations.
  3. Field education is an essential part of the total program of theological education: to help the student personally experience the Christian ministry by being given the opportunity to apply the theories and ideas he/she has learnt in the classroom; to help him/her develop his/her own experience; to help him/her grow spiritually and morally as he/she identifies himself/herself with the people in their struggle and responds to the realities of the church in the world.

The faculty, in co-ordination with the Theological Education Department of Myanmar Baptist Convention, TED-MBC, and the Association for Theological Education in Myanmar, ATEM, take full responsibility to evaluate and review the curriculum.

The most common teaching method is a lecture method. However, all students are required to present major papers for certain courses on which discussed is exercised. The medium of instruction is English.

CCIT adopts a credit unit system. Generally speaking, one credit should be regarded as equivalent to one hour per unit.

DipTh students are required to complete 120 credits of courses before graduation.
